In gratitude…

As I write this, it is actually my wedding anniversary month.  I am awash with gratitude that my husband is so loving, so patient, so understanding.  I realize how blessed I really am almost every single day.

I say “almost” because we have our days when life “gets in the way” and makes me think otherwise. But I understand, too, that that is a trick. Time and circumstance can be deceiving that way.  There are times when I take my husband for granted…I can be selfish and I can be impatient. Still, there he is with me every step of the way.

My husband supports my hobby of quilting to no end. He has always been there to put his stamp of approval on projects he feels deserve it and he has never hesitated to tell me that my choices may have led me astray.  He advises me on everything from color to consistency and from fabric to finality. I so appreciate his sense of design.

I hope you, too, have someone who supports your every move; who makes you feel both supported and independent. I hope you can be your authentic self with this person and I hope he or she inspires you to be so in the wider world.

(My husband was a huge inspiration for my book, The Story of Your Quilt, and if you knew him, you’d know why.  If you have a quilt story you’d like to share, possibly for a second book, please email me at the address below. Discover your inspiration here today.)

 Yours in gratitude,
